Forestry Mulching in Fort Oglethorpe, GA

Serving Fort Oglethorpe · Catoosa County

Land Services for Fort Oglethorpe Homes, Yards and Acreage

Forestry mulching turns overgrown ground in Fort Oglethorpe back into space you can use. A mini skid steer with a drum mulcher grinds brush, vines, and saplings right where they stand. The chips stay on the ground and break down over time.

Land clearing is the same idea on a bigger piece of ground. Lots on the Georgia side grow up fast once the mowing stops. Two or three seasons of privet and honeysuckle can swallow a back acre. We cut it back down to ground you can stand on.

Three Crosses Land Services works out of a base just north of Chattanooga, Tennessee, about 30 miles up US 27. Fort Oglethorpe and the rest of Catoosa and Walker counties are part of the regular route. Estimates are free, and you can call or text to set one up.

The ground around Fort Oglethorpe

West Chickamauga Creek runs north through town and passes under Battlefield Parkway. Reed's Bridge Road crosses the same creek east of the city. The bottoms along it stay soft and hold water for days after a wet stretch. Brush and briars take those low strips first.

Red clay across the valley holds water long after the rain quits. Warm, wet summers push growth back faster than most people expect. The mini skid steer is small and light for that kind of ground. It works the soft spots without chewing up the yard around them.

The national military park covers the southern two thirds of the city. Plenty of yards run right up against the park boundary. Those back edges turn into a wall of saplings and brush. Chinese privet and bush honeysuckle lead the way, and the Park Service fights both inside the battlefield.

Clearing work on Fort Oglethorpe properties

Most calls here start with forestry mulching on ground nobody has touched in years. The mulcher takes brush and small trees in one pass. For a whole lot that has grown shut, land clearing opens it back up at residential scale.

Open fields and pasture stay ahead of the brush with bush hogging once or twice a season. Grown up boundaries call for fence line clearing before a new fence goes in. That comes up often on older tracts out toward Boynton and along Cloud Springs Road.

After the brush is down, stump grinding takes stumps below grade so the yard mows clean. The mini skid steer fits through a standard fence gate. Tight backyards near Barnhardt Circle and the older streets in town are still reachable.

Fort Oglethorpe FAQ

Questions From Fort Oglethorpe Property Owners

A few of the questions we hear most around Fort Oglethorpe. If yours is not here, call or text and ask.

Call (423) 260-5675

Do you cover Fort Oglethorpe from Tennessee?
Yes. We are based just north of Chattanooga and run US 27 south through Chattanooga into Georgia. Fort Oglethorpe, Rossville, Lakeview, and the rest of Catoosa and Walker counties sit inside the service area. Georgia work gets booked on the same schedule as Tennessee work.
My back yard runs up to the Chickamauga Battlefield line. Can you clear it?
We clear up to your property line and stop there. The national military park is federal ground, so that side stays untouched. On your side we can take the saplings and brush back and open the edge up again. Plenty of Fort Oglethorpe lots have an edge like that.
The low ground near West Chickamauga Creek stays wet. Can you still mulch it?
Usually yes. The mini skid steer is light, so soft ground holds up better under it. After a hard rain we may wait a few days for the bottoms to firm up. That is normal on creek ground in Catoosa and Walker counties.
What happens to the brush after forestry mulching?
It stays on site as chips. The drum mulcher grinds the material where it stands and spreads it in a layer across the ground. That layer helps hold soil in place on the sloped lots below Missionary Ridge. If a job turns up old debris that has to go, the dump trailer handles it.
Can you take down a tree beside my house?
Close quarters work like that is not what we take on. Our lane is small and mid size trees in the open parts of a property. Shrubs, overgrown ornamentals, and brushy tree lines are a good fit. For a tree leaning on a roof, call a tree service that specializes in it.
