Growth moves fast in the Tennessee Valley, where the area sees more than 50 inches of rain a year. A lot that got mowed two summers back is chest high now. Privet fills the edges, and kudzu and honeysuckle climb the fence line. Past that point, hand tools stop working and the job takes a machine.

The ground around here is rarely flat. Wooded ridge sides run down into valley floors, and lake lots carry their own slope. Red clay holds water for days after a hard rain. A mini skid steer is lighter than full size equipment and easier on a soft yard.
Stumps are a separate step. The mulcher takes growth down to the ground, and what is left gets taken below grade by stump grinding. Lot clearing this way opens the surface without heavy digging. Big timber and any tree leaning on a house or a shed belong to a tree service.
It starts with a look at the property, where you point out what comes out and what stays. Trees you want kept, the well head, the septic lid, and the corners all get noted. We agree on the edges of the work before the machine comes off the trailer.
The mulcher starts at the edge it can reach and works in. Standing brush and saplings go through the drum and come out as chips. Those chips stay on the ground as a mulch layer that holds soil on a slope. The same machine does our forestry mulching work.
Material stays on site as mulch instead of stacking into a burn pile. That matters in Hamilton County, where open burning runs October 1 through April 30 and needs a permit. Old fence wire and dumped metal cannot go through a mulcher. That part goes in the dump trailer under junk and debris removal.
Land clearing services get priced by the job. How much ground you want opened moves the number first. Then comes how thick the growth is, since a wall of privet takes longer than light brush. Mid-size trees also take more passes than saplings.
Access changes a day more than people expect. A gate the machine fits through saves hours over hauling material around a house. Steep ridge ground and wet clay slow everything down. Fences, wells, septic fields, and buried lines mean working around them.
